Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about DTI Suite — the trial, licensing, cameras, data privacy, standards and requirements.

What is DTI Suite?
DTI Suite is a Windows desktop app that builds professional electrical infrared inspection reports. You import your asset spreadsheet and thermal photos, review the draft, and export a finished Microsoft Word and PDF report — in minutes.
Who is it for?
Electrical thermographers and inspection companies who want to produce thorough, consistent reports fast — without juggling several programs. It was built by a working electrical thermographer.
Do I need Microsoft Word?
Yes. DTI Suite produces a real, editable Word document and uses Word to create the PDF, so Microsoft Word must be installed. No other software — and no internet connection — is needed to build a report.
Which thermal cameras are supported?
FLIR and HikMicro radiometric JPEGs, Raytron / InfiRay (.irg), and Fluke (.is2) and Testo (.bmt) images. FLIR, HikMicro, Testo and Raytron work out of the box; for Fluke, export the temperatures once from Fluke's free SmartView software (see the download page). You can edit spot and box markers, read ΔT (temperature difference), and switch palettes right in the app before the images go into the report.
How does licensing work?
DTI Suite is licensed as an annual subscription, per machine. Your license activates one Windows PC; you can deactivate it and move the seat to another computer as needed. A 30-day free trial (no credit card) is available before you subscribe.
Subscription? I've been burned by camera-software subscriptions before.
Fair — a lot of thermographers have. Here's the difference: you're always in control. Cancel anytime from your account portal, and everything DTI Suite produces is a plain Microsoft Word document and PDF that you own and keep forever — nothing is locked away or held hostage if you stop. The app runs on your own PC and your data never leaves it. You're paying for the tool that saves you the desk time, not for access to your own reports.
How does the 6-months-free launch offer work?
New subscribers who sign up during the launch get their first 6 months free. You start the subscription, add a payment method, and you are not charged for six months; after that it renews at the normal annual rate and you can cancel any time before then. It's our way of letting you prove it on real jobs, risk-free.
What happens after the 6 free months?
Your subscription simply continues at the standard rate ($450 per machine per year) unless you cancel first. You'll keep every report you've built either way — they're your Word and PDF files.
How much does DTI Suite cost?
It is $450 per machine per year (USD), billed yearly, with volume discounts from the second machine ($390/yr each for 2–10, $325/yr each for 10+). Every feature is included on every plan, and you can start with a free 30-day trial — no credit card, subscribe when it ends to keep going.
Does DTI Suite run on a Mac?
Not right now — but we're working on it. DTI Suite currently requires Windows with Microsoft Word. A native macOS version is in development; email info@dynamicinfrared.ca and we'll let you know the moment it ships. In the meantime, some Mac users run DTI Suite in a Windows virtual machine (Parallels or VMware) with Word installed.
Where is my data stored?
On your own computer. Your photos, spreadsheets and reports are processed locally and are never uploaded. Only your license key and a non-identifying machine fingerprint are sent to the licensing provider to activate the software.
What standards does it follow?
Report content and re-inspection scheduling align with NFPA 70B, CSA Z463 and NETA temperature-rise practice. You can choose which standard the re-inspection schedule cites. DTI Suite is a reporting aid — professional judgement and on-site verification remain yours.
Does it do year-over-year trending?
Yes. If you scanned the site before, DTI Suite compares this year to last by asset and flags which ones worsened, and it tracks temperatures over time to build a trend.
Can I edit the report after it's built?
You shouldn't need to — DTI Suite builds the finished report in one click, so there's no report editing and no repeated work. But the output is a real Microsoft Word file, so if you ever want to change a word, you can, then re-export the PDF.
Will reports show my company branding?
Yes. Your company logo, details and cover appear on every report, so the output looks like yours, not ours.
What are the system requirements?
A Windows 10 or 11 PC with Microsoft Word installed.
